This photo is from 2015 – around the time we first started dating, and just after we decided to work together. Fast forward a few years, and we are married and get to be creative together for a living. Luckily, we both have unconventional backgrounds that are pretty compatible.
McKenzie is a singer, yoga teacher, and PR coordinator. Before Charleston, McKenzie was finishing up a 7-year stint in New York running BluRoc records, touring the country, and working with artists like Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Murs, and RZA + The Black Keys for the Blakroc album. For her first few years here, she owned and operated the popular King Dusko, an eclectic art and music venue on King Street (that’s where we met).
Elliott is a musician, visual artist, and writer. Before Charleston, Elliott lived in Florida. There, he fronted and wrote for a touring band (opening for groups including Toots & The Maytals, Steel Pulse, Nappy Roots, The Wailers, and Jason Mraz), and started FishSmith Co., a nautical-themed design and apparel company. In Charleston with McKenzie, Elliott rediscovered his passion as an artist and has since managed some high concept projects, focusing on music and murals.
